British (Pattern) Invasion

Now that I now that we're having a boy (Leo James, perhaps?), I decided to stop by the Knit Nook and peruse the baby books for good patterns. Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino 2 has a ton of beautiful patterns for both boys and girls. I think my next knit is going to be this cute little number:

I'm thinking dark brown for the main color, with a red diamond and cream whatever the little duplicate stitch X is called. Actually, it's totally decided. I am going to use the extra red and cream to make some sort of cute hat -- maybe the Candy Cane hat from Itty Bitty Hats. Yes, I am going to have an adorable baby boy!

I also love this pattern from the Baby Cashmerino 2 book:

It will probably be my second baby sweater . . . maybe in the blue. As a cable-addict, I really can't say no.

Of course, Debbie Bliss is not the only brilliant British yarn queen . . . Louisa Harding is definitely working toward beating out Debbie Bliss as my favorite British yarn company (Rowan is in the running, too). I am in love with the Kashmir Aran, which I'm using for my shrug. Today I realized that Louisa Harding actually has pattern books (who woulda thought), one of which, Swallowtails, has this nifty lil' pattern:

It's knit out of Cinnabar, a new Louisa Harding yarn for Spring and Summer of '07. Unfortunately, I have no idea which colorway I want to use because they're all beautiful. This is the best picture I could find of all of the colorways:

So, as soon as I'm finished with the Retro Redux Shrug, that's next on the list.

Must go knit so I can start some of these new projects!!

The argyle vest almost makes up for the fact that you can't knit that baby dress. Actually, it totally makes up for it. You just have to find some baby khakis or cords so your baby will totally look like an old man (his name is Leo, after all).
