Stylish St. James

If I can't share a lot about what I'm knitting, why not talk about others' projects?

Last night will surfing Ravelry I discovered that a couple of knitters made beautiful fingering weight St. James sweaters. I have seen several mods, like adding crocheted flowers instead of a bow [rav link], but so far this is my favorite -- I'm itching to cast on for a fingering weight St. James the second I get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

I first saw Debby's St. James [rav link], made of Dream in Color Starry on US size 4 and 2 needles. I love the color, and that she knit it while watching Mad Men. (Another of my favorite things about browsing projects people have made using the St. James sweater pattern -- many of them refer to it as a "Joan" sweater, which is super flattering; I love her style! Although when I designed St. James, I hadn't yet been exposed to Mad Men.)

In Debby's notes, she points us to the sweater that inspired her to use fingering weight yarn, Spongy's St. James [rav link]. She also used a Dream in Color yarn, Smooshy. In her pattern notes, she tells how she modified the sweater to work with fingering weight yarn and US size 7 needles.

Thanks to those of you that are knitting my designs! It motivates me to get back to work and create more patterns to share with you.
