Back to basics.

It's been a hectic couple of days. So where do I turn?

Garter stitch, of course!

For awhile, I sort of dismissed garter stitch as too "beginner" . . . why would I want to make something using garter stitch if I know how to cable or knit lace? Then I realized that easy does not equal bad, and sometimes simplicity can be just what is needed. In fact, Elizabeth Zimmermann's book Knit One, Knit All (the only Zimmermann book that isn't in my personal library yet) is all about the glory of the knit stitch.

(When looking up the link for Knit One, Knit All I also discovered the Alice Starmore book Charts for Color Knitting. *Cough, Christmas idea, cough!*)

Here's to some low-effort knitting and funny television; a cozy way to spend this cool November night!
