Free Pattern: Confection Baby Shrug

This baby shrug is the perfect item for the transition to spring! (It's also great for the indoors air conditioning when it's 90 degrees outside - keep it in your diaper bag so you're always prepared!) With no buttons or zippers, dressing your baby is a breeze. Knit top-down, this quick knit has minimal seaming.

Click the button below to see the Confection Baby Shrug on Ravelry, including finished shrugs by other knitters. It's a great idea for finding yarn substitutes.

Finally x 2

First, and more importantly, I am finally going to get help for post-partum depression. As you may have inferred from the blog, I haven't always been the most upbeat person since Leo's been born, and in the past four months, it's been getting worse rather than better. So Tuesday, I'm going to see a professional about it. Not exactly "stand up and cheer" news, but I am proud of myself for admitting just how bad the problem is and doing something to fix it. So go me.

The second, more exciting finally is that I found the camera cord! Actually, it was at my mom's house, so I got it on my recent visit. Expect many picture-filled posts to make up for the recent lack of pictures. Here's one to tide you over until I can post more (I have a squirmy little boy in my lap that makes a long post impossible).

When you don't have a pillow, a teddy bear will do!

Leo

First things first: if you don't like what I'm going to name my baby, fine -- but letting me know that once is much better than incessantly telling me things like "Leo Wagner is someone who wears velcro shoes and talks to himself." It's not going to change my opinion -- our baby will be named Leo, and that's that!! If we wanted a name that everyone loved, we would randomly pick something from the top 100 baby names of 2006. Instead, we wanted a name that stands out and has meaning (Leo is a family name) and we picked one, dammit!

Now that the name has been decided, I did the totally nerdy thing and Googled Leo Wagner. I found a dorky singer, US Magistrate Judge and even a guy who was a politician in West Germany and spy for East Germany during the Cold War years, from what I can gather from crappy translations of Germany websites.

This picture, however, was the best find of my Google-palooza:

The caption said "Leo the Italian Sword Swallower," and I love it.

I wonder what our little Leo will grow up to do . . . other than beat up people that (for no good reason!) make fun of his name!
