I'm not the only crafty Wagner in the house!
Upon hearing that they're not going to make one of my husband's favorite guitar picks anymore, he decided to create DIY guitar picks by filing down thumb picks and super gluing flat picks to them. I was so impressed with his craftiness that I didn't mind running to pick up some baking soda for him (it helps set the super glue).
Now we've got to get Leo in on the "making things" . . .

Tonight - Liberation Prophecy!
Okay, so you may have heard me mention that my husband is a musician.
Tonight he will be playing with the band Liberation Prophecy at the 930 Listening Room. The show starts at 8 and is an all-ages event, so you can bring the whole family (I'm taking Leo - he never gets to hear his daddy anywhere except our living room.)
The show is part of the annual Cultivate Beauty festival, which is a pretty rad concept - "The idea is to put energy into cultivating something beautiful, something that lasts, something more satisfying than the shallow instant-gratification that fills most of our days." As part of the festival, there's an art exhibit and film festival.
By the way, as much as I love Liberation Prophecy (you really can't describe the music. I challenge you to try!), the opening act is a group I'm really excited about. Casey Driessen (Grammy nominee!) and his band the Colorfools are going to bring some fiddlin' madness to the 930, and I can't wait.
So, basically, if you live in the Louisville area, you have a little over three hours to arrange your plans so you can go to this show. I promise, you'll have a good time.

listen!
TODAY! Craig Wagner (a.k.a. my hubby) will be joining Ben Sollee in Cincinnati for some unbelievable music. Even if you don't live in Cincinnati, you can still hear them! Just tune in to Bearcast Radio (you can listen online) around 4:30.
If you DO live in the area, Ben and Craig will be opening for Kim Taylor at the Northside Tavern at 10 P.M.
Just doing my wifely duty and spreading the word about my man's gigs.

This will never cease to amuse me . . .
Every once in awhile I happen upon this, and I love it more everytime I see it. (Of course, I love Craig more every time I see him.)

Reason #8720 I love my husband . . .
As mentioned in the previous post, we just painted our room and the baby's room.
The baby's room is the perfect shade of blue, but our room turned out a little bit on the Shrek side.
Now, I have yet to say, "I told ya so," to Craig, but I did tell him so. The color I wanted, according to him, had "too much gray in it." We opted instead for a more yellow-green. That being said, I did (and still do) like the color we chose; though it may not have been my first choice it was my second or third, definitely in the top five. It's a really pretty color, there's just a lot of it.
Rather than repaint the room (which would be ridiculous), we're just going to try to add more brown stuff in there to make the room seem more earthy -- after all, the look we're going for is natural sort of a "stem green". When discussing things we could do (like put up bamboo curtains to replace the white ones, which are just sheets-turned-curtains anyway), Craig made a comment that almost made my jaw drop:
"Maybe you could knit us some pillows in a nice tan color."
I shouldn't have been surprised; Craig understands knitting in a way that I'm sure few husbands do. Maybe it's his Irish heritage, but he appreciates the value of fine yarns over synthetic crap, and he understand that something knit on size 3's should be treasured more than something knit on size 10's. Still, he hates things that look "crafty" and has an unmatched disdain for pillows.
The current plan is to knit a bedspread using Blue Sky Organic Cotton with some pillows to match. The bedspread is to be constructed by sewing together large squares, so that we can still use it while it's being knit (start off with a little lap-size blanket and end up with something to cover the whole bed). I might even get creative at some point and throw in a different color square here and there, like Pebble, Bone or Sand. It will be a relatively expensive project, but given that most bedspreads cost around $100 anyway it's not that bad.
When I get all hormonal and pregnant, I should just sit back and take comfort in the fact that I married a man that encourages all manner of knit things. I'm such a lucky girl!
